Nationally Significant Multimodal Freight and Highways Projects

The Nationally Significant Multimodal Freight and Highways Projects (INFRA) program funds surface transportation infrastructure projects of national or regional significance that improve the safety, efficiency, and reliability of the movement of people and goods. The Department seeks to invest in high-quality infrastructure that modernizes aging assets, expands system capacity, and supports American innovation to support economic competitiveness. With the integration of the FY 2026 appropriations, a targeted objective of this funding opportunity is to directly address the national shortage of commercial motor vehicle parking.

The Department is awarding funds through two distinct tracks:

  • Track 1 utilizes FY 2023 and FY 2024 INFRA resources to support surface transportation projects of national and regional significance. Applications must be submitted online via https://www.grants.gov no later than 5 p.m. Eastern on July 1, 2026.
  • Track 2 is a dedicated carve-out of FY 2026 INFRA resources specifically for commercial motor vehicle parking projects of national or regional significance that improve highway safety and provide essential facilities. Applications must be submitted online via https://www.grants.gov no later than 5 p.m. Eastern on July 15, 2026.

More information on the INFRA Program can be found in the Notice of Funding Opportunity and on the website: https://www.transportation.gov/grants/mpdg-program.
