Lane closures on the Highway 14 Minnesota River Bridge begin Nov. 2 for lighting installation
MANKATO, Minn. – Drivers should expect lane restrictions in both directions near the Highway 14 Minnesota River Bridge in Mankato beginning Monday, Nov. 2, weather permitting, as crews prepare to install lighting on the bridge, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction for several days as crews remove concrete, pour new concrete, and allow it to cure for the center-median lighting installation.
Crews are expected to return in mid-November to complete the lighting work, and drivers should again anticipate lane restrictions.
Traffic delays and congestion are likely, especially during peak travel times. Drivers are encouraged to be patient, stay alert in the work zone, adjust travel times to avoid peak traffic periods, or plan for additional travel time.
Important work zone safety reminders:
- Slow down when approaching every work zone
- Obey posted speed limits. Fine for a violation in a work zone is $300
- Never enter a roadway that has been blocked with barriers or cones
- Stay alert; watch for workers and slow-moving equipment
- Minimize distractions behind the wheel
- Be patient; expect delays, especially during peak travel times
