MnDOT to host public open house Nov. 5 for Worthington area projects
MANKATO, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation will host a public open house on Thursday, Nov. 5, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Worthington Fire Station (830 2nd Avenue, Worthington) to share information about the upcoming Highway 59 project and I-90 project in Worthington, both planned for 2027-2028 construction.
There will be no formal presentation, and people are welcome to stop by at their convenience during the open house. MnDOT staff will be available to answer questions about the projects, construction timelines, and detour routes.
MnDOT conducted a transportation study in 2017 that combined input from the city of Worthington, local residents, businesses, and other project stakeholders to arrive at roadway concepts reflective of the future transportation needs on Highway 59 through Worthington. In 2023 additional public input influenced an updated design of the Humiston Avenue segment of Highway 59. The Highway 59 project includes pavement and intersection improvements, construction of a roundabout at Ryan’s Road, construction of roundabouts at the ramps with I-90, and new frontage road connections. The I-90 project includes pavement improvements and the replacement of I-90 bridges over Rowe Avenue and Highway 59.
