Additional closures set for southbound Hwy 65 at Anoka County Road 10/Mounds View Blvd in Spring Lake Park for bridge repair
ROSEVILLE, Minn. -- Additional work on the westbound County Road 10/Mounds View Blvd. bridge over southbound Highway 65 in Spring Lake Park will require additional full overnight closures of the southbound highway Wednesday and Thursday nights, Sept. 2 and 3. The highway will close from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. both nights. The loop ramp from westbound Co. Rd. 10 to southbound also will close although the ramp from southbound Highway 65 to westbound Co. Rd. 10 will remain open.
Concrete barricades were placed last week to shift traffic to the shoulder and left (inside) lanes of the westbound county road. Crews removed the damaged outside (facia) girder and the deck above the damaged section of the bridge, installed the new facia girder and began building falsework beneath the bridge to work on the new girder and deck. Falsework is placed beneath the bridge to protect the traveling public while work is carried out above the highway.
During the closure, you’ll need to follow the signed detour west on Co. Rd. 10, south on Hwy 47/University Ave., east on I-694 and then back north on Highway 65.
Weather permitting, the new bridge deck will be poured over a weekend in mid-September and bridge repairs will be completed by late this fall.
The loop ramp from northbound Hwy 65 to westbound Co. Rd. 10/Mounds View Blvd. has been closed since Oct. 28, 2025, when a semi-tractor trailer carrying a premanufactured pedestrian bridge struck and damaged the westbound Anoka Co. Rd. 10/Mounds View Blvd. bridge in Spring Lake Park. The outside (facia) beam on the north side of the westbound bridge was struck by the over-height load. The new pedestrian bridge was traveling southbound on Highway 65 enroute to the site of a new crossing over Coon Rapids Blvd. in Coon Rapids.
Please note that all timeframes are approximate, subject to change, and weather and schedule dependent.
