Weekend closure set for southbound Hwy 65 at Anoka County Road 10/Mounds View Blvd in Spring Lake Park for bridge repair
Roseville, Minn. -- Partial demolition of the westbound County Road 10/Mounds View Blvd. bridge over southbound Highway 65 in Spring Lake Park will require a full closure of the southbound highway this weekend.
Crews will place concrete barricades to start shifting traffic to the shoulder and left (inside) lanes of the westbound county road on Thursday morning in preparation for the weekend work. Then beginning at 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28, crews will close southbound Highway 65 and remove the damaged outside (facia) girder and the deck above the damaged section of the bridge. The loop ramp from westbound Co. Rd. 10 to southbound Highway 65 also will close although the ramp from southbound Highway 65 to westbound Co. Rd. 10 will remain open.
The new bridge beam will be delivered on Saturday, and crews will install the new girder as part of their weekend activities. Southbound Highway 65 is expected to reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 31.
During the closure, motorists will follow the signed detour west on Co. Rd. 10, south on Highway 47/University Ave., east on I-694 and then back north on Highway 65.
Weather permitting, the new bridge deck will be poured over a weekend in mid-September, and bridge repairs will be completed by late this fall.
The loop ramp from northbound Hwy 65 to westbound Co. Rd. 10/Mounds View Blvd. has been closed since Oct. 28, 2025, when a semi-tractor trailer carrying a premanufactured pedestrian bridge struck and damaged the westbound Anoka Co. Rd. 10/Mounds View Blvd. bridge in Spring Lake Park. The outside (facia) beam on the north side of the westbound bridge was struck by the over-height load. The new pedestrian bridge was traveling southbound on Hwy 65 enroute to the site of a new crossing over Coon Rapids Blvd. in Coon Rapids.
Please note that all timeframes are approximate, subject to change, and weather and schedule dependent.
