I-35W in Burnsville lane and ramp closures Aug. 21-25

Overnight full closure begins Aug. 26 for Hwy 13 bridge construction

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Beginning at 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, northbound Interstate 35W will be reduced to one lane between the I-35/I-35E/I-35W split and Burnsville Parkway as crews continue concrete paving work, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

During this time, motorists traveling through the area must choose the left lane to continue through the construction zone. Northbound I-35W access to Burnsville Parkway is closed, however the ramp from Burnsville Parkway to northbound I-35W will remain open through Sunday, Aug. 23.

Then, early Aug. 23, crews will begin removing barriers to reopen the chute lane and access to Burnsville Parkway will reopen. At that time, the Burnsville Parkway ramp to northbound I-35W will close through Wednesday, Aug. 26.

Additional lane reductions for concrete pavement work:

Southbound I-35W will be reduced to one lane between Cliff Road and Burnsville Parkway from 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 24 to 5 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25.
Northbound I-35W will be reduced to one lane between Burnsville Parkway and Cliff Road from 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25 to 5 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26.

Then, beginning at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, crews will close I-35W in both directions between I-494 and the I-35E/I-35W split in Burnsville to pour the concrete bridge deck for eastbound Highway 13 over I-35W.

The closure will remain in place until 5 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 27.

Motorists traveling through the area can use I-35, I-35E, Highway 77 and I-494 as a detour.

All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather and schedule permitting and subject to change.

MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, and slow down in work zones where workers are present.
