Latest news releases Highway 53 Hermantown pavement night work resumes Aug. 23 DULUTH, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation will be conducting night work on Highway 53 in Hermantown between Haines Road and Midway Road starting Sunday, Aug. 23. Permanent striping placement will require lane closures between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. and all signalized intersections will be put in a four-way flashing stop condition.
