Northbound Hwy 52 ramp to eastbound I-90 closes Aug. 17 for realignment
ROCHESTER, Minn. – Motorists who use the northbound Highway 52 on-ramp to eastbound Interstate 90 will be detoured beginning Monday, Aug. 17 for approximately five weeks while construction crews realign it, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The detour begins at 5 a.m., Monday, Aug. 17, which coincides with the concrete bridge deck pour on westbound I-90. During Monday’s work, the detour for motorists south of I-90 will be south on Highway 52 Olmsted County Road 7 north to the on eastbound on-ramp at Highway 52.
After Monday, the detour for northbound Highway 52 motorists who want to go east on I-90 is continue northbound on Highway 52, taking Exit 47 at Marion Road, cross the bridge and enter onto southbound Highway 52 and take the flyover bridge exit to eastbound I-90.
A reminder: Construction crews will be pouring the concrete bridge deck on the westbound I-90 bridge over Highway 52. All Highway 52 traffic must use the detour routes. The highway closure includes the southbound Highway 52 to eastbound I-90 flyover bridge. Highway 52 will reopen once the work is completed later in the day.
Highway 52 detours on Aug. 17 are:
- Southbound Highway 52:
- Highway 52 begins in Rochester with motorists traveling south on Highway 63 to Stewartville and then east on I-90 to Exit 224 (Eyota) and travel south on Olmsted County Road 7 to connect with Highway 52 north of Chatfield.
- Northbound Highway 52:
- Motorists should take Olmsted Co Rd 7 north to the westbound I-90 entrance ramp at Eyota, travel west to Exit 209B at Stewartville to travel north on Highway 63 into Rochester to connect with Highway 52.
Current detours
Motorists are also reminded that the westbound I-90 off-ramp to northbound Highway 52 at Exit 218 is closed and detoured. This closure began July 13. The detour is:
- Travel 8 miles west to Exit 209B at Stewartville and travel north on Highway 63 into Rochester to connect with Highway 52. The detour is scheduled to be removed later in August.
- Westbound I-90 motorists who want to travel south on Highway 52 should use Exit 224 at Eyota, and travel south on Olmsted County Road 7 to Highway 52 north of Chatfield.
Other detours:
- Eastbound I-90 to southbound Highway 52. Motorists use I-90 Exit 224 (Eyota) and travel south on Olmsted Co Rd 7 to connect with Highway 52 north of Chatfield.
- Southbound Highway 52 to westbound I-90. In Rochester will exit Highway 52 to southbound Highway 63 and travel to I-90 north of Stewartville.
