Public invited to learn about proposed Highway 280, Broadway Street safety improvements
MnDOT project team will provide updates on proposed road improvements at Aug. 6 meeting
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation invites the public to attend a public meeting on Thursday, Aug. 6, to learn more about proposed safety improvements at the Highway 280 and Broadway Street Northeast intersection, and related improvements along Hennepin Avenue and Industrial Boulevard.
The public meeting will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Van Cleve Recreation Center Gym, 901 15th Ave. SE in Minneapolis. Attendees are welcome to stop by anytime during the event to view project information, speak with MnDOT staff and ask questions. A brief project presentation will begin at 5 p.m.
The meeting will include information about:
- The proposed closure of the northbound left turn from Highway 280 to Broadway Street Northeast.
- Planned improvements to Hennepin Avenue and Industrial Boulevard.
- New walking and biking connections, including portions of the Grand Rounds Missing Link.
- Safety improvements for people driving, walking and biking.
MnDOT identified the Highway 280 and Broadway Street Northeast intersection as a significant safety concern after crash rates exceeded the agency's critical crash threshold. The proposed improvements are intended to reduce the risk of serious crashes while improving safety and mobility throughout the corridor.
