MnDOT to host July 14 public meeting for Hiawatha Avenue project in Minneapolis
ROSEVILLE, Minn. — The Minnesota Department of Transportation invites the public to attend a July 14 public meeting to learn about a road improvement project at Hiawatha Avenue/Highway 55 at 45th Street East and 46th Street East in Minneapolis. Construction is scheduled to begin in September and is to be completed in December.
The meeting is 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, at the Lake Nokomis Community Center, 2401 East Minnehaha Parkway in Minneapolis. The public is invited to arrive at any time during the public meeting. At the beginning of meeting, MnDOT staff will present an overview of road improvements, construction timeframetr and taffic impacts. Following the presentation the MnDOT team will be available to field questions from attendees.
The project will make pedestrian safety and accessibility improvements to the intersections of Hiawatha Avenue and 45th Street East and 46th Street East. The improvements include adding new crosswalks, traffic signals, pedestrian refuge areas, plus reconstruct turn lanes for safer turn speeds and better sightlines.
All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather and schedule dependent, and subject to change.
