Rock removal work to detour Highway 63 beginning June 3 southwest of Lake City
LAKE CITY, Minn. – Motorists on Highway 63 will encounter a detour beginning June 3 about 4 miles southwest of Lake City for rock removal on an adjacent slope, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Wabasha County is removing some of the rock slope northwest of Highway 63 to improve the sight distance from Wabasha County Road 15 to southbound Highway 63. Work is planned only for ditch and the rock slope.
Highway 63 will be closed during the approximately monthlong work to excavate the slope and ditch areas. Wabasha CR 15 will be closed at times during construction near the intersection with Highway 63.
Motorists on traveling south from Lake City on Highway 63 will be detoured onto Wabasha County Highway 2 to Wabasha County Road 33 to go around the work zone. The detour is reverse for northbound traffic.
More information can be found on Wabasha County’s roads map.
MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution and slow down in work zones where workers are present.
