Overnight Hwy 52 lane closures, detour Dec. 10-12 for digital message sign replacements in Rochester
The work is being performed at night to minimize traffic disruption. MnDOT asks motorists to be alert, slow down and move over to keep the crews safe.
From 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, to 6 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 11, crews will restrict the southbound lanes of Hwy 52 to one lane, closing the left three lanes leaving the right lane open to traffic. The work zone will begin near Civic Center Drive and end just north of Apache Mall. After the old sign is removed and the new one is in place, the left lanes will be re-opened with the right lane being closed to finish up the walkway adjustments. Sixth Street Southwest will have some ramp restrictions with signs alerting motorists to the change. Northbound lanes will remain open.
The second night from 10 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 11 to 6 a.m., Friday, Dec. 12, northbound Hwy 52 motorists will use Exit 50 at Olmsted County Road 1 (Simpson Road SE/11th Ave. SE) as crews replace a northbound sign. Motorists will use the off-ramp and on-ramp to go around the work zone. Southbound traffic will remain open.
Weather conditions could delay the work. It would be rescheduled at a later date.
