Plymouth Avenue bridge closure begins May 30

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – On Tuesday, May 30, the Minnesota Department of Transportation will close the Plymouth Ave. bridge that crosses over I-94 in both directions between N. Lyndale Ave. and N. 3rd St. This closure, which will remain in place through fall 2023, is necessary so crews can begin work resurfacing the bridge and making improvements to sidewalks, ramps, and signals.

Motorists should follow the posted detour from N. Lyndale Ave. to W. Broadway Ave. to N. Washington Ave.

Weekend closure of I-94 - June 2-5

Beginning at 10 p.m. on Fri., June 2 through 5 a.m., Mon., June 5, MnDOT will also close I-94 in both directions between I-394 and I-694. Crews need this weekend closure of I-94 to remove the bridge deck. Motorists will be detoured using I-394 to Hwy 169 to I-694.

The following ramps to I-94 will be closed during the weekend closure:

  • Southbound Hwy 252 to eastbound I-94/Southbound Hwy100/Eastbound I-694
  • 53rd Ave/W. Lyndale Ave. to eastbound I-94
  • 49th Ave./48th Ave/N. Lyndale Ave. to eastbound I-94
  • Dowling Ave. to eastbound I-94
  • Broadway Ave. to eastbound I-94
  • Lyndale Ave. S. to westbound I-94 at I-394 split
  • Eastbound I-394 to westbound I-94
  • Lyndale Ave S. to westbound I-94 at Lyndale Ave N./Plymouth Ave split

Crews will also close the ramp from N. 3rd St. to westbound I-94 in downtown Minneapolis from 10 p.m. on Fri., June 2 through 5 a.m., Tues., June 6. Following this closure, the ramp from N. 3rd St. to westbound I-94 will be reduced to a single lane starting near the Plymouth Ave. bridge. through the fall. Crews need this lane closure so they can load and unload trucks while they are rebuilding the bridge deck.

All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather and schedule permitting and subject to change. The Minnesota Department of Transportation urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, and slowdown in work zones where workers are present.
