Expect delays on Hwy 61 at the Pigeon River border crossing

DULUTH, Minn. – Motorists traveling into and from Canada should be aware of delays due to heavy traffic at the Grand Portage Port of Entry and construction on Highway 61 at the Pigeon River bridge. Weekend delays should be expected during heavy travel hours, especially Sundays. Due to the Canadian holiday, Victoria Day, the Minnesota Department of Transportation is expecting backups this Monday, May 22.

This project is replacing the bridge bearings, deck, and lighting system on the Pigeon River bridge. Work is expected to last until fall.
