Detour for the Highway 59 project in Slayton begins May 8

WILLMAR, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation announces that a detour for the Highway 59 Slayton bypass lane project begins Monday, May 8 and is expected to run through the end of the month. Highway 59 will be closed in both directions from 29th Street to 30th Street in Slayton.

The detour map has changed due to bridge restrictions. Through traffic will now be routed to Highway 30, Highway 267, and Murray County Roads 31 and 2 (see attached new detour map).
Construction dates are subject to change depending on weather and other unforeseeable circumstances.


About this project
MnDOT is building two left-turn/bypass lanes in the city of Slayton at 29th Street and 30th Street. Benefits of the project include improved traffic flow and enhanced safety. Duininck, Inc., is the contractor, and the project cost is $350,000.
