I-35W northbound lane and ramp closures in Bloomington begin May 1

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – On Monday, May 1, the Minnesota Department of Transportation will begin construction on I-35W in Bloomington to resurface the road, and improve ramps, sidewalks, and signals. Work this spring will start on the northbound side of I-35W and then will switch to the southbound side later this spring/summer.

Beginning Monday, May 1 through mid-June, motorists traveling northbound in Bloomington can expect to see I-35W from 106th Street to 98th Street reduced to a single lane. The ramp from 106th Street to northbound I-35W will be closed and the detour for this closure is Lyndale Avenue to 98th Street. The ramp from northbound I-35W to 98th Street will also be closed, and the detour is 106th Street to Lyndale Avenue for this closure.

Starting on Sunday, May 14 through Saturday, May 20, northbound I-35W from 94th Street to 90th Street will be reduced to a single lane. The ramps from 94th Street to northbound I-35W and northbound I-35W to 90th Street will also be closed during this time. The local detours will be Lyndale Avenue to 90th Street and 94th Street to Lyndale Avenue, respectively. Motorists are advised to follow the posted detour route on to Lyndale Avenue for local access. Motorists can also use I-35E to Hwy 77 to I-494 as a regional detour.

All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather and schedule permitting and subject to change. MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, and slowdown in work zones where workers are present.
