MnDOT to host April 18 open house in Slayton for Hwy 59 project
WILLMAR, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation invites the public to attend an in-person construction open house on Tuesday, April 18, to learn about the upcoming Highway 59 bypass lane project in Slayton. The open house will be held at the Slayton Senior Center, 2451 Broadway Ave., Slayton, and run from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m.
There are no formal presentations and people are invited to stop by at their convenience during open house hours. MnDOT staff and the contractor will be available to answer questions about the construction phase of the project, including the timeline and detour.
About this project
MnDOT is building two left-turn/bypass lanes in the city of Slayton at 29th Street and 30th Street. Construction gets underway May 15 and will be completed in June.
Traffic impacts
A detour is required to complete the project (see attached map). The detour of Highway 59 is scheduled to be in place for the project’s duration.
Project benefits and cost
Benefits of the project include improved traffic flow and enhanced safety. Duininck, Inc., is the contractor, and the project cost is $350,000.
