Travel advisory update: many roads have reopened in southwest MN

WILLMAR, Minn. – (11:00 a.m.) MnDOT has reopened many state highways throughout southwest Minnesota. However, several road segments remain closed or in a No Travel Advised status due to drifted snow and/or stranded vehicles. Blowing and drifting snow will continue to make travel difficult throughout the day and evening.

Conditions vary throughout the 12-county district and within each county. Please visit 511mn.org to see the current status of individual roads. As roads are removed from No Travel Advised or Road Closed status, they will be posted to 511mn.org.

The public is urged to stay off roadways that are closed or in a No Travel Advised status. While a section of roadway may appear okay to travel on, there are portions they could encounter that are hazardous, therefore all sections of the roadway are assigned with the travel advisory. MnDOT reminds everyone that it is illegal to travel on a closed road and if travelers require rescuing, they are liable for all related rescue costs.
