SW MN overnight travel update: No Travel Advisories remain in 4 counties

WILLMAR, Minn. – (5:00 p.m.) MnDOT has reopened all state highways throughout District 8 in southwest Minnesota. However, all roads in three counties remain in a No Travel Advised status due to blowing and drifting snow: McLeod, Redwood, and Renville. A portion of Meeker County that includes Highway 15 south of Dassel, and Hwy 12 from Dassel to Cokato, are also included in the No Travel Advisory.

The No Travel Advisories will be in place overnight and roads reevaluated in the morning. Everyone is urged to stay off roadways in a No Travel Advised status. While a section of roadway may appear okay to travel on, there are portions they could encounter that are hazardous, therefore all sections of the roadway are assigned with the travel advisory.

Blowing and drifting snow may continue to make travel difficult overnight throughout all counties in the district, including Chippewa, Kandiyohi, Lac qui Parle, Lincoln, Lyon, Murray, Pipestone, and Yellow Medicine.

Conditions vary throughout the 12-county district and within each county. Please visit 511mn.org to see the current status of individual roads. As roads are removed from No Travel Advised status, they will be posted to 511mn.org.
