Hwy 43/Mankato Avenue roundabouts in Winona open to traffic, project wraps up for the season

WINONA, Minn. – Roundabouts on Hwy 43/Mankato Avenue in Winona opened Wednesday, Nov. 23, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Traffic will be able to use all four roundabouts that were built during this year’s construction season as the work slows for winter. All roads and accesses to the road are open.

People may see crews doing clean up work over the next few weeks and finishing some sign installation, including overhead signs along Mankato Avenue. Slow down and be alert for construction crews.

Some work will be required next spring. There is some work in the medians along Hwy 43/Mankato Avenue and a small amount of paving work, as well as landscaping work that will take place during warmer spring months.

MnDOT thanks everyone for their patience during this project.

Hwy 43 Winona project between Sugar Loaf View and Belleview Street updated city water and sewer utilities under the road, while reconstructing the Hwy and building roundabouts at Hwy 61, Riverbend Road, Frontenac Drive and Sarnia Street.
