Detour for Hwy 263 Ceylon project removed Nov. 10

MANKATO, Minn. – Construction on Highway 263 between Ceylon and I-90 is nearing completion, and the detour is expected to be removed today, Nov. 10, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Motorist are urged to watch for workers as minor finishing work continues.

The project, which began July 5, included resurfacing the roadway, upgrading paved shoulders to accommodate bicyclists and pedestrians, new lighting at rural intersections and snow control measures along the north side of Highway 263 from Ceylon to County Road 8. Project work also included improving pedestrian ramps, sidewalk replacement, updating utilities in Ceylon, and improving drainage.

The construction work on Highway 263 was completed in preparation for a turnback of the highway to Martin County.

Central Specialties, Inc. was awarded the project with a bid of $12,388,457.19.
