Hwy 61/Hwy 316 roundabout open north of Red Wing
RED WING, Minn. – Construction of the Highway 61/Highway 316 roundabout project north of Red Wing is nearing completion and the road is fully open to traffic, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The roundabout was constructed to improve safety by reducing speed at the busy intersection. An additional safety improvement of making connections for bicyclists were made with the addition of a trail that goes around the new intersection and connects to the on-road Mississippi River Trail system.
A nearby intersection on Highway 61 was also improved at Goodhue County Road 18 by constructing a Reduced Conflict Intersection (RCI). This project was completed in September 2022.
MnDOT thanks everyone for their patience and attention to safety while construction work occurred this season to improve the road.
