MnDOT to host public open house for Hwy 34 project
DETROIT LAKES, Minn.—The Minnesota Department of Transportation invites the public to an open house on Tuesday, Oct. 4, from 4 to 7 p.m., to learn more about the 2023 resurfacing project on Highway 34 between County Road 29 and County Road 47 near Osage. The open house will be held at the Minnesota State Community and Technical College campus, located at 900 Highway 34 E in Detroit Lakes.
Residents, business owners, and area visitors and commuters are encouraged to attend. There will be no formal presentation. Please stop in whenever it is convenient. Project staff will be available to provide information about the overall project and tentative schedule, answer questions, and address public concerns regarding tree removals prior to road construction.
In addition to the in-person open house, and for those who cannot attend the event, a video overview of the project is available for viewing on the project website.
The reconstruction project on Highway 34 is currently scheduled for construction in 2023, and will address pavement concerns, clear zone maintenance and selective shade tree removals in the right of way, culvert replacements and a bridge replacement at the Shell River.
