I-94 St. Cloud head-to-head traffic continues until mid-October
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Bridge work on the I-94 bridge in southwest St. Cloud, Stearns County, will move to the westbound side and traffic will switch to the newly-resurfaced eastbound side Thursday, Sept. 22.
As crews resurface and make repairs to the westbound I-94 bridge west of Highway 23 interchange, here’s what motorists should know about the active work zone:
- Remains one lane, head-to-head traffic, 24/7.
- Expect a reduced speed limit of 60 miles per hour, lane shifts and sudden stops or delays at busy times.
- Plan accordingly, use alternate routes or travel at off-peak hours, especially on weekends.
- Do the zipper merge and use both lanes until merge, then take turns to ensure traffic flows through the work zone.
In mid-October, motorists will encounter periodic lane closures as crews wrap up work and remove crossovers.
When complete, the $3.4 million project will provide a smoother bridge surface and reduce overall maintenance costs on I-94 southwest of St. Cloud.
