MnDOT at Mower County Fair Aug. 9-14 with Edward Blizzardhands, Mn Go Mobile, employment information
AUSTIN, Minn. – Visitors to the Mower County Fair in Austin Aug. 9-14 can stop by to talk with Minnesota Department of Transportation workers, check out information about highway maintenance jobs in southeast Minnesota and check out the snowplow Edward Blizzardhands.
MnDOT will be at the Mower County Fair through the week to answer questions about the highways and bridges, snowplowing and how you can apply for work in District 6, the 11-county MnDOT region in southeast Minnesota.
“MnDOT is a great place to work and build a career alongside other good people,” said Derrick Crews, who supervises MnDOT highway maintenance work in the Austin area. “If you’re interested in highway maintenance jobs with us, we can help you learn more.”
Information featuring the replacement of six Interstate 90 bridges in Austin and the resurfacing of Hwy 105 will also be available alongside Edward Blizzardhands, a 2022 Name a Snowplow contest winner. They will be on display south of the Plager Building on the Mower County Fairgrounds.
Families can also grab a washable chalk marker and color the exterior of the Mn Go Mobile. The Mn Go Mobile is a hybrid van covered with line drawings, like a coloring book, and is popular with kids and adults.
The Mower County Fairgrounds are in Austin at 700 12th St. S.W. Admission is free, but there is a fee for parking on the grounds. You can learn more at the fair’s website.
