Westbound I-94 lane closure in Washington County begins Aug. 8
Roseville, Minn. – Motorists will encounter a daily lane closure on westbound Interstate 94 between Lakeland and Woodbury in the east metro beginning on Monday, Aug. 8.
Beginning at 9 a.m. through 7 p.m. each day, Monday through Saturday, westbound I-94 will be reduced to two lanes of traffic between Woodbury Drive and the St. Croix River through late October. This lane closure is necessary to allow construction crews to work in the center median.
Eastbound I-94 is currently reduced to two lanes of traffic between Woodbury Drive and the St. Croix River through late October. Construction crews are reinforcing the road shoulders in preparation for pavement resurfacing in 2023. Crews will use the road shoulders to maintain two lanes of traffic in each direction on I-94 during next year’s construction.
All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather dependent and subject to change. MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, and slowdown in work zones where workers are present.
I-94 between Highway 120/Century Avenue and the St. Croix River will undergo a two-and-a-half-year pavement improvement construction project. The work will improve safety, traffic flow and ride smoothness. Major construction will occur in three stages with most of the work happening in 2023 and 2024.
