MnDOT to host public open house on July 7 for the Highway 19 Henderson project
Construction expected to begin late July
MANKATO, Minn. – The public is invited to attend an in-person open house on Thursday, July 7 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Henderson City Hall, 600 Main Street, to learn about the upcoming Highway 19 project east of Henderson and prepare for construction expected to begin in late July. There is no formal presentation planned, and people are welcome to arrive anytime.
Staff from MnDOT and the contractor will be present at the open house to provide more information about the project and answer questions.
Minnesota River Valley flooding has created maintenance and travel challenges. The lowest point of Highway 19 east of Henderson between the Minnesota River Bridge and railroad bridge will be elongated in 2022 to offset impacts to the floodway when Highway 93 is raised eight feet in 2023-2024. Additional Highway 19 project work will include improving the smoothness of the roadway, adding advanced flood warning signing, and safety improvements.
Weather permitting, construction is expected to begin in late July and be completed by late September. Highway 19 east of Henderson will be closed during construction and traffic detoured to Highway 169 and Highway 93. Visit the project website for detour information.
MnDOT invites and encourages participation by all.
