Eastbound Hwy 55 closes over the Mendota Bridge between Minneapolis and Mendota Heights Thursday, June 23
Westbound Hwy 55 reopens over the Mendota Bridge by 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 22
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Motorists traveling eastbound on Highway 55 over the Mendota Bridge will encounter a full closure of eastbound Highway 55 as crews continue resurfacing the bridge deck. Beginning at 5 a.m. Thursday, June 23, eastbound Highway 55 will be closed between Highway 5 and Highway 13. Motorists in the area are advised to follow the signed detour or find an alternate route.
In addition, the following ramps will also be closed at 5 a.m., Thursday, June 23:
- Southbound Highway 5 to eastbound Highway 55
- Eastbound Highway 62 to northbound Highway 5
The eastbound lane closures on Highway 55 over the Mendota Bridge and associated ramps are expected to reopen in mid-August.
When possible, motorists should avoid cutting through neighborhoods and help keep the community safe by using posted detour routes.
These lane and ramp closures are part of a larger project on Highway 55 between Minneapolis and Inver Grove Heights. All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather permitting and subject to change. MnDOT will maintain access to all businesses and residences throughout the project however, you may have to use a different route.
Construction is expected to be complete by October 2022.
