MnDOT to add emergency grade raise on Hwy 11 near Rainy Lake

Duluth, Minn. — MnDOT will be adding an emergency grade raise on Hwy 11 at two locations near Dove Island on Rainy Lake starting the morning of Saturday, May 28. While the grade raise is being constructed, there will be a single 9’ temporary driving surface controlled by flaggers. Once the raise is complete, there will be a single 12’ driving lane controlled by a temporary signal.

At this time, Hwy 11 will remain open, including while the grade raise is constructed. Water levels will continue to be closely monitored. This work is being conducted to prevent the residents and businesses on Dove Island from being cut off from all land-based access and services.
