MnDOT to host public open house on May 25 for Hwy22 Mankato to St. Peter project

MANKATO, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation invites the public to attend an in-person open house on Wednesday, May 25 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Mankato Regional Airport Lobby, 3030 N. Airport Road, to learn about the Hwy 22 project from Mankato to St. Peter. The two-year project is tentatively planned to start construction in 2024.

Staff from MnDOT will be available to provide information about the project, including the roadway improvements and a potential future DNR trail. There is no formal presentation planned, and attendees are welcome to arrive any time.

MnDOT will reconstruct Hwy 22 from south of Blue Earth County Road 57 in Mankato to just south of the Minnesota River Bridge in St. Peter. To improve safety and traffic flow, turn lanes will be added throughout and intersections will be improved, including a Continuous T at Blue Earth CR 57, intersection realignment at Blue Earth CR 2, and a roundabout at Le Sueur CR 21. Additionally, a roundabout will be constructed at the intersection of Hwy 22 and Augusta Drive in Mankato.

Additional Hwy 22 project open houses are being planned on June 7 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Kasota Community Center, 200 N. Webster Street, and on June 28 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the St. Peter Community Center, 600 S. 5th Street. More details will be shared in the near future.
