Hwy 15 roadwork, detour resumes Monday, May 2 in Kimball
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation has taken the necessary steps to resolve a permitting issue and work will continue as previously planned.
Motorists can expect these impacts into August as crews reconstruct and improve Hwy 15:
- Detour—Hwy 15 will close to through traffic between Willow Creek Rd. and Hwy 55 in Kimball on Monday, May 2. Motorists will follow a signed detour along Hwy 55 toward Watkins to Meeker County Road 17 to Hwy 24, and back to Hwy 15 south of Kimball. View map
- Active work zone—Access will be open and maintained to those who live, work or visit Kimball. However, expect changes, follow road signs and consider use of other accesses (alley, side street, side/back entrance). For your safety and ours, please watch for workers, equipment and stay out of closed areas.
- Spruce Avenue will remain open to cross traffic.
- Pedestrians will encounter sidewalk closures with signed detours.
Crews will reconstruct the road surface along with curbs and gutters, underground storm sewer and other utilities; extend the sidewalk south of Linden Ave. to Willow Creek Park and north of Spruce Avenue East to Hwy 55; update or add sidewalk and pedestrian approaches; install a multi-use trail along Hwy 15 north of Hwy 55; and install overhead street lighting.
