MnDOT closes Hwy 210 from Fergus Falls to Breckenridge

DETROIT LAKES, Minn. — (4:30 p.m.) The Minnesota Department of Transportation has closed Hwy 210 from Fergus Falls to Breckenridge. Multiple vehicles and drifting snow are blocking the roadway, making the highway impassable.

Motorists should plan accordingly. When a road is closed it is illegal to travel in that area. Motorists can be fined up to $1,000 and/or sentenced to 90 days in jail. In addition, if travelers need to be rescued from a closed road, other expenses and penalties will apply.

Strong winds and blowing and drifting snow continue to impact the region. Snowplows continue to operate, but remember it takes time to get the roads back to good driving conditions. Check road conditions at 511mn.org or call 511.

Important: even if most state and federal highways are passable, travel may still be difficult on county, township and municipal roads. Check with local agencies for their road conditions.
