Eastbound I-94 in St. Paul reduced to one lane again this weekend
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Eastbound Interstate 94 will again be restricted to a single lane this coming weekend as construction crews continue concrete pavement joint repairs on the eastbound interstate.
Beginning at 12:01 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 21, MnDOT will restrict eastbound I-94 to a single lane between Marion Street and Wabasha Street until 6 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 23. However, the ramp from eastbound I-94 to Marion Street will remain open throughout the weekend.
During this weekend’s work, construction crews will finish removing deteriorated pavement and then pour new concrete to fix the pavement joints between the sections of the roadway.
Please use alternate routes to avoid congestion and delays. Information about upcoming traffic impacts will be posted on the project webpage and sent out in email updates as details become available. All traffic impacts are tentative and weather dependent.
Eastbound and westbound I-94 are restricted to two lanes between St. Peter Street and Western Avenue until early November. As work continues this summer and fall, motorists will encounter additional lane and ramp closures through this area as crews repair and resurface I-94 between Western Ave. and Mounds Blvd. and I-35E between I-94 north and University Ave. in St. Paul.
Project work will also include resurfacing ramps and frontage roads along I-94, repairing drainage and upgrading storm sewers, bridge rehabilitation work as well as repairing sidewalks and upgrading pedestrian sidewalks and approaches to Americans with Disability Act (ADA) standards. The project is anticipated to be complete in fall 2022.
When completed in the fall of 2022, the project will provide a smoother, longer-lasting road surface, improve safety and mobility along the corridor and upgrade pedestrian/bicycle accessibility.
