Open house scheduled June 2 and 3 for Hwy 86 project in Lakefield
MANKATO, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) in partnership with the City of Lakefield invites the public to attend an outdoor open house along Hwy 86 in Lakefield to learn about the project and prepare for construction in 2022.
On Wednesday, June 2 from 4:30 p.m. – 6 p.m., staff will be set up at Hwy 86/Funk Avenue and from 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at Hwy 86/3rd Avenue N. On Thursday, June 3 from 4:30 p.m. – 6 p.m., staff will be set up near the Junction 86 gas station at Hwy 86/7th Avenue S.
During the “neighborhood meeting” style open house, MnDOT project team members along with the city’s consultant SEH will be available to walk along the Hwy 86 project corridor with community members, review various elements of the project, and answer questions. SEH is also planning a series of additional open houses in segments of the city’s rural development project.
Those unable to attend the open house can visit the project website for more information and staff contacts.
The City of Lakefield received funding from the US Department of Agriculture-Rural Development to upgrade their wastewater and water systems throughout the city, including those located under Hwy 86. To minimize recurring construction impacts to the community, MnDOT is reconstructing Hwy 86 in conjunction with the City’s utility work. This partnership will provide a cohesive roadway project in Lakefield in 2022.
MnDOT invites and encourages participation by all.
