Construction on eastbound I-90 in in Jackson County begins June 7
MANKATO, Minn. – Construction on eastbound Interstate 90 in Jackson County will begin Monday, June 7 and motorists are advised they will encounter traffic changes as part of the project.
Eastbound I-90 traffic will be shifted to the westbound lanes, reducing traffic to a single lane, head-to-head configuration. No detour is anticipated for through traffic on I-90.
Eastbound traffic access to the ramps at Jackson County Road 9/380th Avenue and Highway 86 will be temporarily closed during construction. Eastbound I-90 traffic to Highway 86 will be detoured at the County Road 1 exit (which is 14 miles before the Highway 86 exit), travel south on County Road 1 to County Road 34, and east to Highway 86. Highway 86 traffic traveling to eastbound I-90 will use County Road 34 to Highway 71 and north to I-90.
Construction on the 11 miles of I-90 in is expected to be complete in October and includes:
- Resurfacing the existing eastbound pavement
- Resurfacing eastbound entrance and eastbound exit ramps
- New edge drains and ditch cleaning
- Culvert repairs
- Upgrading guardrail
Michels Corporation of Brownsville, WI, was awarded the project with a bid of $9,911,000.
