Westbound I-94/I-694 closed and detoured this weekend in Brooklyn Center
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – As repairs and resurfacing continue on I-94/I-694 in Brooklyn Center, the westbound lanes of the interstate will be closed and detoured this weekend for pavement resurfacing.
Beginning at 10 p.m. Friday, April 30, the westbound lanes of the interstate will close from Highway 100 to Brooklyn Boulevard. At the same time, the loop from Shingle Creek Parkway to the westbound interstate will close along with the ramp from southbound Highway 252 to the westbound roadway.
During the closure, the ramp from the westbound I-94/I-694 to Brooklyn Boulevard will close but all other traffic movements will remain open at Brooklyn Boulevard.
During the weekend closure, motorists will need to follow the signed detours to avoid the closure:
- Northbound I-94/Highway 252: North on Highway 252, west on Highway 610 and south on Highway 169
- Westbound I-94/I-694: South on Highway 100, west on I-394 and north on Highway 169
The westbound interstate is expected to reopen around 5 a.m. Monday, May 3.
Additional traffic changes begin next week
The ramp from Brooklyn Boulevard to eastbound I-94/I-694 and the ramp from westbound I-94/I-694 to Brooklyn Boulevard will reopen by 5 a.m. on Monday, May 3. At the same time, construction crews will close the ramp from Brooklyn Boulevard to the westbound interstate and the ramp from the eastbound interstate to Brooklyn Boulevard until 9 p.m. Friday, May 7.
Repairs and resurfacing on Interstate 94/694 between Brooklyn Boulevard and Dupont Avenue began Monday, April 12, in Brooklyn Center. Those improvements include traffic signals, ramp and sidewalk updates.
Weather permitting, all work will be completed by early June.
