Hwy 74 in Whitewater Wildlife Management Area reopens after minor repair work
ROCHESTER, Minn. — A 7-mile gravel stretch of Hwy 74 north of Elba will reopen in the afternoon of Friday, April 2, after crews complete minor repair work, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The road was temporarily closed since mid-March due to road conditions created by the spring thaw. Crews were able to do the minor repair work to the roadway once the water levels subsided.
The stretch from near Beaver (Winona County Road 30) to near Weaver (Wabasha County Road 26) is MnDOT’s only gravel road and is within the Whitewater Wildlife Management Area north of Elba. It sees an average of 75 vehicles per day. Whitewater State Park is south of the road closure.
