No travel advised on Hwy 23 from Pipestone to Marshall
No travel advisory update for southwest MN
WILLMAR, Minn. — (3:00 p.m.) The Minnesota Department of Transportation advises no travel on Hwy 23 from Pipestone to Marshall. Strong winds, blowing snow and compacted ice continue to create hazardous travel conditions throughout much of Lincoln, Lyon, Murray and Pipestone counties.
Drivers are advised not to travel on the following roads until conditions improve.
- Hwy 14 - South Dakota border to Tracy
- Hwy 23 – Pipestone to Marshall
- Hwy 30 - Pipestone to Westbrook
- Hwy 59 – Hwy 14 to Fulda
- Hwy 91 – Hwy 14 to Chandler
No Travel Advised means that the roadway has deteriorated and/or visibility has been reduced to the point that it is very dangerous to travel; there are reports of intermittent white out conditions; and, some weather conditions can be severe enough that road treatments, such as salt or sand, are not effective.
MnDOT has also upgraded the following highway segments from no travel advised status to snow-covered; however, drivers are asked to use caution when traveling on these roads.
- Hwy 19 - Marshall to Vesta
- Hwy 59 – Marshall to Hwy 14
- Hwy 68 – Hwy 19 to Wabasso
The public can view winter road conditions from plow cameras available through the 511mn.org website. Please note that not all plows have cameras. Road conditions on major highways can also be viewed through the Road Weather Information System (RWIS), which is also part of 511.
