This project removed the over 120 year old Bassett Creek tunnel that was no longer in use; a new tunnel was constructed to replace the old one in 2018. The project also replaced aging pavement on Hwy 55, which achieves MnDOT’s goal of maintaining a safe, efficient, accessible and reliable multimodal transportation system that connects people.
Summary of work
- Removed remainder of deteriorating tunnel formerly carrying Bassett Creek under Hwy 55
- Lined/reconstructed 24 inch underlying sanitary sewer constructed below tunnel
- Removed/replaced pavement on Hwy 55
