Highway closures in Twin Cities metro area to begin at 8 p.m., continue overnight
SAINT PAUL, Minn. – As efforts to protect public safety and maintain order in the Twin Cities metro area continue, the Minnesota Department of Transportation has announced that the following highway closures will be in effect beginning at 8 p.m. Sunday, May 31, through 6 a.m. Monday, June 1.
Please note some changes from last night’s closures:
- I-35W northbound and southbound between Hwy 280 and Hwy 62
- I-94 eastbound and westbound between I-694 and Hwy 280
- I-394 eastbound between Hwy 100 and I-94
- Hwy 55 northbound and southbound between Hwy 62 and I-94
Routes will remain open for motorists to exit the downtown areas. MnDOT reminds motorists that the cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul, as well as several surrounding cities and counties, have implemented overnight curfews prohibiting travel on city streets and in public places.
Motorists who may need to travel through the metro area overnight should expect detours and obey all travel controls.
