Lane closures begin on Interstate 94 from Monticello to Clearwater Oct. 14
ROSEVILLE, Minn. — Motorists using Interstate 94 between Highway 25 in Monticello and Wright County Road 8 in Hasty will begin to see overnight lane closures on both directions on I-94 on Monday, Oct. 14 through November. Here’s what to expect:
- Eastbound I-94 will be reduced to one lane from 6 p.m. to noon nightly
- Westbound I-94 will be reduced to one lane from 5 p.m. to 10 a.m. nightly
- Note: Lane closure hours will vary depending upon day of week, weather and traffic volumes.
Crews will build temporary lanes to prepare for upcoming road resurfacing and widening of I-94 between Monticello and Clearwater.
This work is part of a larger project to improve a 39-mile stretch of I-94 between Maple Grove and Clearwater. Improvements across four different work areas along I-94 will be made to add travel lanes, rebuild bridges, improve drainage, and resurface deteriorating pavement. A new interchange on I-94 near Dayton will also be built. When completed, the project will reduce congestion, improve safety, improve freight movement, enhance economic vitality, and provide a smoother ride for users of I-94. Work will take place between 2019 and 2021.
