Interstate 494/694 traffic changes in Woodbury, Oakdale scheduled for Aug. 23

ROSEVILLE, Minn. — Motorists will encounter traffic changes and delays on Interstate 494/694 near I-94 in Washington County beginning Aug. 23.

Beginning at 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, southbound I-694 motorists will need to stay in the right lane to access either direction of I-94 or exit at Tamarack Road as they approach the construction zone. Motorists driving in the left lane will be unable to exit southbound I-694 until the Valley Creek Road exit.

Crews have been preparing for the traffic shift since last week with a series of lane restrictions on northbound I-494 between Valley Creek Road and the I-94/494/694 Interchange, which is now reduced to two lanes and shifted to accommodate the traffic configuration.

The lane shifts will remain in place through late fall, weather permitting.

The following ramps at the I-94/494/694 Interchange will open by Saturday, Aug. 24:

  • Westbound I-94 to southbound I-494 loop
  • Southbound I-694 to eastbound I-94 loop

In addition, the following ramps will open by Tuesday, Aug. 27:

  • Tamarack Road entrance ramp to southbound I-494
  • Northbound I-494 exit ramp to Tamarack Road

All ramp reopenings and traffic impacts are weather-dependent and subject to change.
