New RCI at 153rd Avenue and Hwy 65 in Ham Lake opened today
ROSEVILLE, Minn. — The newly constructed Reduced Conflict Intersection at 153rd Ave N.E. (Anoka County Rd 61) and Hwy 65 in Ham Lake opened to traffic just before noon in time for the July 4th holiday weekend. Although the new intersection is now open to traffic, motorists may still encounter temporary short-term lane closures for cleanup work.
Work (and traffic restrictions) continues on new RCIs at 143rd Ave. in Ham Lake and 181st Ave. in East Bethel through early August. There also will be work on sidewalk and gutter and drainage at the existing RCI at 169th Ave and Hwy 65 in August.
The second and final year of a project to reduce fatalities and injuries caused by broadside crashes continues in East Bethel and Ham Lake. Crews are building the last four of six RCIs on Hwy 65 in Ham Lake and East Bethel. The RCIs being built in 2019 are at: 143rd Avenue, 153rd Avenue, 181st Avenue and Viking Boulevard. RCIs were built last year at 157th Avenue and 187th Avenue.
Construction of RCIs and longer left turn lanes will improve safety and mobility on the Highway 65 corridor between 85th Avenue in Spring Lake Park and Sims Road in East Bethel.
