Pavement repair, preservation project begins June 11 on Highway 65 in Northeast Minneapolis
Preliminary work begins late this week
ROSEVILLE, Minn. — Off-peak lane closures will begin late this week as crews remove pavement markings (turn arrows and crosswalks) before the start of work on Highway 65 (Central Avenue) in Northeast Minneapolis. After the preliminary work is completed, pavement repair and preservation work is scheduled to begin Tuesday, June 11, 2019, on the highway between 27th Avenue and 37th Avenue. Work will be done overnight between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. through Friday, June 14, to minimize impacts to motorists and nearby businesses.
Motorists will encounter a single lane of traffic the entire length of the project on the side of the road being worked on as crews apply asphalt coatings to the road surface. Cross streets will be closed for a short time as work moves along Highway 65. During the work, on-street parking will not be allowed. Nearby residents and businesses may experience noise from trucks and other equipment during the project.
A thin coating of asphalt is applied to the pavement surface as a protective coating to extend the life of the pavement.
Work is expected to be done by Friday morning, June 14, weather permitting. Crews will return later in June to restripe the roadway.
