Median closure, detours begin after Memorial Day on Hwy 65 at 143rd Avenue NE in Ham Lake
ROSEVILLE, Minn. — The Minnesota Department of Transportation will close the median at 143rd Avenue and Hwy 65 in Ham Lake on Tuesday morning, May 28 to begin work on the new Reduced Conflict Intersection at the intersection in Ham Lake. The closure will require motorists to follow a signed detour for 143rd Avenue.
During the median closure, westbound traffic can go north on Hwy 65, east on 147th/148th/149th Avenue, south on Radisson Road, east on Bunker Lake Boulevard and north on Lincoln Street to reach 143rd Avenue on the west side of the highway.
Eastbound traffic will be able to travel south on Hwy 65, east on Bunker Lake Boulevard, north on Radisson Road and west on 141st Lane to reach 143rd Avenue on the east side of the highway.
And sometime mid-summer, construction crews will close and detour 143rd Avenue in both directions at Hwy 65. Construction at 143rd Avenue will wrap up by early August 2019.
The second and final year of a project to reduce fatalities and injuries caused by broadside crashes is underway in East Bethel and Ham Lake. Crews are building the last four of six RCIs on Hwy 65 in Ham Lake and East Bethel. The RCIs under construction in 2019 are at: 143rd Avenue, 153rd Avenue, 181st Avenue and Viking Boulevard. RCIs were built last year at 157th Avenue and 187th Avenue.
Construction of RCIs and longer left turn lanes will improve safety and mobility on the Hwy 65 corridor between 85th Avenue in Spring Lake Park and Sims Road in East Bethel.
