I-35W southbound lane closures over the Minnesota River in Bloomington, Burnsville begin Oct. 18

106th Street ramp to southbound I-35W closes through summer 2021

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Motorists traveling southbound on Interstate 35W between 106th Street in Bloomington and Cliff Road in Burnsville should plan for alternating lane closures on southbound I-35W beginning Oct. 18.

Motorists will encounter alternating lane closures on southbound I-35W between 106th Street and Cliff Road beginning at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18 as crews begin implementing a long term lane closure. Once Complete, southbound I-35W will be reduced from four lanes to three lanes through summer of 2021.

At that same time, crews will close the 106th Street ramp to southbound I-35W through the summer of 2021. Motorists should follow the signed detour using northbound I-35W and 98th Street to access southbound I-35W.

These lane and ramp closures are part of a multiyear project to replace the I-35W Minnesota River Bridge between Burnsville and Bloomington. The work will include reconstructing the I-35W Bridge spanning the Minnesota River and 106th Street, replacing pavement from Cliff Road to 106th Street and constructing a trail between Black Dog Road and Lyndale Avenue.

MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, slowdown in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
