MnDOT to start improvements at 5 NE Minneapolis intersections Sept. 4
ROSEVILLE, Minn. The Minnesota Department of Transportation plans to start work on sidewalk and signal improvements at five intersections in northeast Minneapolis Tuesday, Sept. 4.
Motorists should watch for traffic changes that include four-way stops and restricted access at entrances to side streets to and from University and Central Avenues through mid-October.
Crews will work on the following intersections simultaneously, one corner at a time:
- University Avenue at Broadway Street
- Central Avenue at University Avenue
- Central Avenue at Second Street Southeast
- Central Avenue at Spring Street
- Central Avenue at St. Anthony Boulevard
Work will shift to another corner after work on a corner is complete. Each corner should take 10 days to two weeks.
Residents and business owners will have access to their homes and businesses at all times.
Pedestrians will need to use detours during sidewalk closures.
The intersection work enters the third-year of a three-year project to provide better access and to meet Americans with Disabilities Act requirements.
