4th Avenue to westbound I-94 ramp closure in downtown Minneapolis begins July 30

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Beginning at 6 a.m. on Monday, July 30, the ramp from 4th Avenue S/16th Street to westbound Interstate 94, near the Minneapolis Convention Center, will close.

The ramp will remain closed through early October.

Motorists should follow the posted detour and continue on Fourth Avenue to 16th Street to 15th Street to northbound Lyndale Avenue to westbound I-94.

The closure is necessary as crews reconstruct the ramp and westbound lanes of I-94.

This closure is part of the larger four-year 35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown reconstruction project on Interstate 35W between 43rd Street and downtown Minneapolis. The work includes reconstructing pavement, bridges and ramps on I-35W, adding new access ramps to the Lake Street Business District, building a new transit station on the interstate and constructing new MnPASS lanes. Once complete, motorists and residents will have better accessibility, safety and mobility in the area.  Work is expected to be completed in fall 2021. During the 35W@94 reconstruction project, people are encouraged to make a new connection to other forms of transportation such as transit, carpools, MnPASS, and try alternate routes.
