UPDATE: Northbound I-35W in Minneapolis, St. Anthony, Roseville, closing July 13-16

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Motorists traveling north on Interstate 35W between Minneapolis and St. Anthony will encounter a detour beginning Friday, July 13 at 9 p.m. through 5 a.m. Monday, July 16, weather permitting.

Northbound I-35W will be closing between Fourth Street Southeast in Minneapolis and Highway 36 in Roseville for road resurfacing. Crews will begin closing the on and off ramps along northbound I-35W about 8 p.m., approximately one hour before closing the interstate.

Motorists will be detoured around the closure via I-694, I-94, and Highway 280. Motorist traveling on northbound Highway 280 can continue on northbound I-35W.

There will be a combination of five additional northbound and southbound I-35W closures between Fourth Street Southeast and Ramsey County Road C tentatively scheduled for the following weekends:

  • July 27-30
  • Aug. 3-6
  • Aug. 10-13
  • Aug. 17-20

One additional weekend closure will occur in September to complete the I-35W/Highway 36/Cleveland Avenue interchange. These five closures are weather dependent and subject to change.

Motorists should plan ahead, determine an alternate route and provide additional time to reach their destinations. For real-time travel information anywhere in Minnesota, visit www.511mn.org or dial 5-1-1.

Resurfacing the interstate extends the life of the highway and provides a smoother ride for travelers.
