University Avenue from Lowry Avenue to 44th Avenue to close for 2 months for resurfacing
ROSEVILLE, Minn. — Crews start work Monday, April 30 on a resurfacing project on University Avenue in northeast Minneapolis and Columbia Heights.
University Avenue will close from Lowry Avenue in Minneapolis to 44th Avenue in Columbia Heights for about two months. The detour for passenger vehicles is Central Avenue. The detour for semis is Interstate 694 to East River Road.
Motorists should follow the detour to reach businesses and residences at 40th Avenue in Columbia Heights. The work in this area is expected to take two to three weeks.
Local access to businesses and residences will be available by following the detour.
Crews will be removing the top layers of the highway and will be replacing it with asphalt. It is expected to provide an additional 30 years of life to that stretch of University Avenue.
